SIGILS FOR PROTECTION

Throughout history, witches have used magically charged symbols called sigils to hold a specific intention and protect, heal, and manifest. They are quite easy to create, but are extremely powerful.

THE CREATION

Sigils are created by writing out an intention, and then using a sequence of letters to make them into an appealing shape. Depending on your style, you can choose whatever artistic direction you’d like when creating your sigil. The steps are generally the same, but you can either use a witch’s wheel to help guide when arranging your letters or arrange them however you’d like. The most important aspects of a sigil, however, are that it contains your intention, resonates with you, and is charged to hold your magic (see page 47). Once it is created and charged, you can write this magical symbol on whichever and however many surfaces you desire to bring in that magic. You can carve a sigil on candles, draw it in your grimoire, or even anoint your skin with makeup or oil in the sigil design before it is absorbed into your skin.
